Territory Acknowledgement
The University of Victoria Ukrainian Students' Society (UVicUSS) recognizes that we operate on the unceded territory of the the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
As settler people, we acknowledge the historical and ongoing injustices Indigenous people in Canada endure, and recognize the role our ancestors played in the displacement of Indigenous Peoples. As we practice our culture and traditions on this land so too do we recognize the rich and diverse customs and history of the Indigenous peoples whom we recognize as contemporary stewards of the land and vital contributors to our society.
